Yes, I'll have to admit that Mr. Gersten made a very earnest and commendable
legal challenge to obtain documents. Very few people avail themselves of
this right.

One problem, I suspect, dealing with the CIA is that the target documents of
the above challenge are located in the "Operations Directorate", wherein the
individual (case officer) there uses what is called "field privilege" to
kept a document out of the mainstream chron files (those susceptible to
review by FOIA officers). This action allows the documents to be stored
anywhere. Thus, from my arm-chair quarterback position, it might have been
more successful if the legal challenge included similar concurrent requests
of those agencies that have dealings with the CIA.

Although he and I are brethren, I can't say anything about his "ultimate
secret" story. I haven't read it yet, but it doesn't look, at least, like a
long boring one.
